ST4233 review (NUS)

DISCLAIMER: firstly, i am not a professional writer, so if there are mistakes in my language, move on. secondly, the review is mostly based on opinions, so i would advise you to google for more reviews to get a diverse take on the modules you are interested in. thirdly, module details change every semester, so do not expect every assessment will stick. last but not the least, i will not talk about grades. hope this is useful for you, cheers.

what do you learn?

this module is like a big next level from linear algebra and regression analysis. you get to learn more on regression models, sensitivity analysis and many more. the content is great so much so i can find ways to put into words and what not. proofs.. yes, you get to learn a lot of proofs as well. you will come across terms like positive definite, semi-positive definite, SVD and many more.

assessments?

this module's assessments vary greatly from one lecturer to another. however, for mine, we were graded based on five homework, project and finals.

my personal opinion?

this was my first level 4000 module i ever took and i have to say this is definitely not the definition of all the level 4000 modules that i have took so far. this is by far the toughest one yet. the content is rather challenging and the insane amount of assessments and workload don't help the student. the project allowed us to choose to do individually or in pairs. of course, i chose the latter. project is alright but the homework and finals were brain wrecking.
